Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Kerttula: Page 1, line 2, following "development;" (title amendment) Insert "making a supplemental appropriation for salmon marketing programs; making a supplemental appropriation for tourism marketing programs;" Page 2, following line 2: Insert new bill sections to read: "* Sec. 2. SALMON INDUSTRY ASSISTANCE PACKAGE. (a) The sum of $5,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Community and Economic Development, Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2002, and June 30, 2003 for generic salmon marketing. (b) The sum of $5,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Community and Economic Development for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2002, and June 30, 2003, to implement expanded international salmon niche marketing programs in developing overseas markets, to conduct strategic salmon market analysis, and for grants to develop and support regional salmon niche marketing programs. * Sec. 3. TOURISM INDUSTRY ASSISTANCE PACKAGE. (a) The sum of $9,800,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Community and Economic Development for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2002, and June 30, 2003, for payment as a grant under AS 37.05.316 to the Alaska Travel Industry Association for additional tourism marketing efforts to mitigate the economic impacts to the Alaska tourism industry from the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The amount appropriated in this subsection includes $250,000 for international tourism marketing. (b) The sum of $200,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Alaska marine 2002-01-23 House Journal Page 2048 highway system, for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2002, and June 30, 2003, for additional marketing efforts to mitigate the economic impacts to the Alaska tourism industry from the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks." Renumber following bill sections accordingly. Page 2, line 3, after "made by": Insert "sec. 1 of" Representative Kerttula moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 1 be adopted. Representative Mulder objected. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 1 be adopted?" Representative James moved and asked unanimous consent that CSHB 334(FIN) be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading, and placed on final passage.
